About us

Eyecare is changing with cutting edge retinal eye scan technology readily available at optometry practices. Our mission is to enhance eye care in the community by providing rapid, professional review and reporting of retinal eye scans and other ocular imaging for early diagnosis and referral of sight-threatening disorders.

Our clinical team is led by Mr Acharya and Mr Ramkissoon who are highly experienced Consultant Ophthalmologists who are experts in retina disease.

Mr Nachiketa Acharya

MB BS MD FRCSEd (Ophth)

Consultant Ophthalmologist and Medical Retina Specialist at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Nachi completed his ophthalmology specialist training in Birmingham with Medical Retina Fellowships at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London and Aberdeen. His initial training was at the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences. He has published research in retinal vein occlusion and socio-economics of age-related macular degeneration. He is principal and co-investor in numerous clinical trials for retinal disease and is also currently College Tutor and Educational Supervisor to junior ophthalmologists training in the Yorkshire and Humberside Deanery. He is an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Sheffield.

Mr Yashin Ramkissoon

BSc MB BChir PhD MRCP FRCOphth

Consultant Ophthalmologist and Surgical Retina Specialist based at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Yashin graduated with distinction in Medicine as well as a PhD in Genetics from the University of Cambridge in 1997 and completed his ophthalmic specialist training at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London where he also undertook Fellowship training in both Vitreo-Retinal Surgery and Medical Retina. He has published numerous articles in peer reviewed journals and has co-authored book chapters on Cataract Surgery and Retinal Detachment. He is currently an Educational Supervisor to junior ophthalmologists training in the Yorkshire and Humberside Deanery and is a Microsurgical Skills Faculty Member and Trainer for The Royal College of Ophthalmologists, London. He is an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Sheffield and full member of British & Eire Association of Vitreo-Retinal Surgeons.
